brief update.

I have been recalling a certain dream i had not too long ago. I was on a stage sitting down and seemingly trying to piece a jigsaw puzzle, which was placed on something like an artist drawing stand or something. I finished it and a standing ovation followed. Niceee

I think its time to move on, to another church. Apparently the church is not exactly what they preach. As i was cleaning up my room abit, i found this.

Leith Baptist Church

Predominantly young congregation, 'strong' mission focus.

WE believe in the paatern of acts 1:8, that mission begins where we are, and extends out to the whole earth. We are therefore ACTIVELY engaged in reaching out to the local community, also working ON THE STREETS of the wider city through drama, dance and music. WE all PARTICIPATE with Edinburgh City Mission and Bethany in CARE VAN and NIGHT SHELTER programmes for the homeless.

Regular overseas mssion trips to Brazil, EAST MALAYSIA!!! (Borneo), and several other countries.

I edited and emphasized on some of their words. I believe that the current church's vision is exactly like this, but somehow i feel they do not have the capability of carrying that out. Well, its quite obvious if a newcomer like me was not even greeted or talked with properly by any one of their members, more so their pastors. Besides, i am like 5 minutes away from their church, it wouldnt hurt if they dropped by and see how i am doing or something.

Seriously, 5 minutes.

3 pastors, 150 members.

How hard would that be?

Besides, i was the only non-local, how distinct is that?

I was the perfect example of one who is 'poor' and 'needy', a 19 year old student freshman all alone in Scotland (at least thats how i think i am being perceived). The silence spoke louder unfortunately. Not that i expect any hospitality, of which i was offered once or twice but it has to be more than that, especially from a church which emphasizes on reaching out to the poor, needy, homeless, the last, least and lost.

Then again it was the preaching that really changed and reinforced my vision. And this Baptist Church might just be revealing itself at the right time.

But.......

Any amount of effort E spent on you would deprive the real poor and needy an amount of effort E.

Where does the marginal amount of effort dE produce the largest amount of benefit dB? You or the real needy and poor?

Have you considered opportunity cost?

From the way you put it, I'd hazard a guess that you think free trade is bad, support the revision of NAFTA, hate Walmart, think McDonald's exploits teens and....let me guess - support the minimum wage.
