Hectic week. But more is coming soon.
1. Alpha placement company interview.
2. ICF bible study (using BA lifeline notes, hehe)
3. British council essay competition
4. Swimming.
5. Collection of parcel.
6. Chaplaincy resident.
1. Did not pass the interview. Reasons given were lack of experience (duh) and not ready. Wont survive the professional world ( i wonder who could at this age). But it was good as it helped me with my CV and interview skills ( just a little bit, but i have ot start somewhere). And that i need to read up more about the actuarial field (eg: the most exciting thing to talk about now in the field is pensions. Reaaaally interesting. 0.0). I will try again next year, and i make sure i am ready for it. It left me with a sense of holy uncontentment, if there's such thing, haha.
2. They loved it!!!!! As in, really loved the discussion, in the way it helps us to stop and pause and reflect on our lives, and they liked the way the discussion flows. Wait till they hear ps ong's sermon, haha. I was glad that the lifegroup notes were a blessing to them, it shows that Metro really can be taken to greater heights (or overseas possibly?)
3. Thank you at. debbie for editing the essay for me. The results will be announced in late April, and i pray that i will win something.
4. Found a swimming pool which is about 40mins (correction, not 15mins, the scale on the map must be wrong). Cost only 1.1 pound per entrance!!! 3 times cheaper than other swimming pools. I plan to get a bicycle so i can cycle there and to church as well, saying quite a bit on bus fares. (1pound per ride, 2 pounds per trip).
5. I missed the delivery man, or sort of they missed me for 2 days, had to collect the parcel from their depot, which, again, i thought is just 15mins from the bus stop, and it took me 30mins to get there. It was horrifying to figure a way to carry the 20kg parcel back to the bus stop and back to my halls in campus.
This is the miracle, if i arrive 10seconds later, i would had missed a friend's coursemate who was also collecting his parcel. He somehow recognised me and offered to send me back to campus, as his friend drove and help him collect his parcel!! You can imagine the trouble that he saved me from! Really, really it was a miracle. Praise God. I offered to belanja them Malaysian food, which Massue should be preparing soon. They are from india and pakistan and their tastebuds should be longing for some spices, haha. They are studying masters in actuarial science too!
6. Lastly, i am offered and also recommended to become a resident in the chaplaincy, which i think will be a once in a lifetime experience. The chaplaincy will be my home soon, and i am so glad to know that i will get to stay there. Will blog about the pros and cons later.
As for today, i discovered a stack of National Geographic books!! GIFTS FROM HEAVEN!!!!!!!!!
The moment i saw them i straight away went to picking the interesting ones first and intend to bring them back to my room, but Fiona (staff) said that it was too many and ask me to go easy on them as they belong to the chaplaincy, haha. But yeah, she did allow me to bring back to my room providing i return them later. So, this morning, i was reading about dark matter and galaxies, then attended economics lecture about classical econs and modern econs. Then went back to chaplaincy and read about the Civil war in Sudan, and is made worse thanks to presence of oil (Blood Oil). Then i went for mathematical analysis lecture about super abstract maths. My head has been to nearly every academic corner today. Calling it a day now. : )
